Marine Gelcoat for Boat Building, Repair and Composite Coatings White, Quart with Wax Marine-Grade Polyester Gelcoat: More Durable Than Standard Orthophthalic Gelcoat, This Is The Smart Choice For Cosmetic Gelcoat Repair, Hull Coatings, Boat Building, Layups And Exterior Coatings For Composite Parts On Boats, Motorcycles, Rvs & More Ideal For Cosmetic Repairs, Easy To Tint With A Polyester Resin Or Gelcoat Coloring Agent To Color Match Your Existing Gelcoat; Tint White Gelcoat To Get Pastel Colors; Tint Neutral Gelcoat For Dark, Bold Colors. Add Colorants Before Adding Mekp Catalyst Easy One-Step Application Using A Brush, Roller Or Spray Gun: Non-Sagging, High-Viscosity Formula Is Easy To Apply And Has Great Coverage. At 77°F, Pot Life Is 8-12 Minutes. Cured Gelcoat Is Easy To Sand, Buff And Polish To A High-Gloss, Showroom Finish Choose The Right Gelcoat For Your Project: For Polyester Resin Layups, Use Gelcoat Without Wax As The First Coat Inside A Prepared Layup; As A Final Coat, Use Gelcoat With Wax (The Wax Makes The Gelcoat Dry Tack-Free); If Needed, Thin With Styrene Only Gel Coat creates a durable, super-smooth, high-gloss coating on boat hulls, RVs, composite parts, and even repairs to fiberglass showers and tubs, pools and more. This high-quality boat gel coat contains a -grade NPG polyester resin more durable than orthophthalic resins, and is preferred in boat building and as a gelcoat repair kit for boats due to greater strength, flexibility & protection against damage from water, weather, and chemicals. Gelcoats are available without wax for use in layups, and with wax for finishing. 2% MEKP catalyst is best, but in cooler conditions, add up to 3% MEKP. In warmer conditions or for added working time, add 1% MEKP. Cured gelcoat can be dewaxed, wet sanded & buffed to a high-gloss, protective finish. Gelcoat without wax is used for the initial layer of a layup, but for a tack-free cure, mix in a paraffin wax additive (sold separately) at a rate of 20 drops per ounce of gelcoat without wax (16 oz. of Gelcoat w/o Wax = 1/4 oz. of Wax Additive, 32 oz of Gelcoat w/o Wax = ½-1 oz of Wax Additive, and 1 gal. of Gelcoat w/o Wax = 2-4 oz of Wax Additive). Gelcoats can also be tinted to achieve a desired color. For neutral gelcoat, add 10% polyester resin or gelcoat colorant (12% for yellow, red, purple, light green and orange). For white gel coat, use up to 1% gelcoat coloring agent. Always mix colorant into gelcoat before adding MEKP. If thinning, use styrene. If applying inside a layup as the first layer, use a release agent first. If applying over TotalFair epoxy fairing compound, apply 2-Part Epoxy Primer or TotalProtect before applying Gelcoat boat paint. Compare to Gelcoats from West Marine, FGCI, Fibre Glast, Fiberglass Supply Depot, Polymer Planet, Hi-Bond and Evercoat Gel-Kote. Gelcoat should be part of every boat fiberglass repair kit. All products are developed for boaters by boaters to provide great value and great results. 100% made in the USA.
