"LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE PAINT AND CRAYON BOX" COLORING SET – (c)1934 Milton Bradley Co. / Famous Artist Syn. No. 4473. 14.5" x 9.5" x 1.25" colorful graphic box. NOTE: Box art was used for several paint set variations (this being the scarcer of the sets). Includes graphic inner-box insert, 18 color blocks (still adhered to insert), 1 tin mixing bowl, assorted used boxed crayons (in pieces & adhered together), color mixing chart, paint brush, and 5 paint sheets (Harold Gray art, 4 partially colored). NOTE: Crayon box is marked "Excello Crayons, The Saalfield Publishing Company". They are from the 1930s period but not original to the set. A well-designed paint assortment with great eye appeal. Condition is considered FAIR with miscellaneous surface/stain/edge wear. Box sides is mildly warped with misc. surface scuffing & creasing. One corner separation on lower left box lid with some side red paper torn/missing (mainly from bottom side area). Varying degrees of inner-box litho surface pulls. Though apparent, we feel these defects do not overshadow the overall graphic integrity by most standards. Box colors / graphics are still bold, bright and attractive (see photos). An uncommon set. This scarce item would make a nice LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE display for the discriminating VINTAGE COMIC CHARACTER TOY enthusiast.
